So my motivational poster "Awkward Situations" has been removed due to copyright violation according to messages sent to me this morning by Deviant art staff. Now just to be clear I never claimed that the Halo 3 screen shot that I turned in a motivational poster was my own work. I stated in the artist's comments that I found the picture at the roosterteeth website (the site famous for Red vs Blue) and that I didn't know who took the screen shot. At this point I don't know who made the copyright violation claim, the 2 messages I received from Deviant art are just automated messages saying that a copyright violation claim was filed and that immediate action was taken. I'm not angry, I'm just confused because I can't really think of who legally owns that screen shot other that the person who originally took it (and if that person is the one who filed the claim, then I apologize for using you work without your permission). In any event I have no intentions to sell other people work, a couple of print requests were submitted to me for the poster but I wasn't going to sell something that I simply edited to be a motivational poster. If the person who filed the claim ever reads this I would just like to know specifically why you had the poster removed so I can better understand this situation. In the future if anyone sees something of theirs in my gallery I ask that you send me a message here on Deviantart or an email politely explaining that my artwork is in violation of your copyright and that you would like it removed and I will take the artwork in question down. Otherwise all I get is an annonymous automated message.
